what you'll actually do
Own the books for a handful of agencies — start to finish.
You won't be a button-pusher in someone else's workflow. You'll run your own client portfolio, partner directly with our fractional CFOs, and have a say in how we build our process.
01
Close 6–8 client books each month
End-to-end ownership of month-end close on accrual basis: reconciliations, accruals, deferrals, revenue recognition, financial statements. You ship the deliverable; you sign your name to it.
02
Design and run agentic workflows
AP, reconciliations, the repeatable parts of close — you'll build the workflows where AI does the first pass and you do the judgment work. You're not running someone else's playbook. You're writing it.
03
Be the day-to-day point of contact
Agency owners email you with questions. You answer them in plain English. You catch things they didn't know to ask about.
04
Build the firm with us
We're actively shipping internal AI tools to take the rote work off accountants' plates. You'll help shape what we build by telling us where you're still spending time you shouldn't be.
what you bring
You've done this work before. For real clients.
3–5 years with US firms or US clients
You know how US GAAP-flavored bookkeeping actually runs day to day. You've seen the weird stuff.
QBO App Expert (or close to it)
You've earned the Advanced ProAdvisor cert, or you've put in the hours to be operating at that level. You know QBO's quirks, its limits, and how to build clean books inside it.
Month-end close, owned end-to-end
You don't need a checklist handed to you. You build the close calendar and you hit it.
Professional English, written and spoken
You can run a client call, write a clear email, and explain a variance without losing the room.
Multi-client firm experience
You've juggled 5+ books at once. Context-switching doesn't break you; it's just Tuesday.
App nerd
You have working familiarity with the stack modern firms run on: Ramp, Bill.com, Gusto, Expensify, Dext, Divvy. You don't need to be expert in all of them, but you're the kind of person who reads release notes for fun.
Accrual accounting + revenue recognition
Deferred revenue, prepaids, accruals, ASC 606-adjacent thinking — you're fluent, not rusty.
why this role is different
Built like a firm worth staying at.
The brief here is short: every benefit on this page exists because we believe it makes your work better, your life better, or both. Nothing on this list is for show.
THE TOOLS
Claude Pro, on the firm
We pay for your Claude Pro subscription because we expect you to use it. AI is a leverage tool here, not a threat. Accountants who learn to wield it well will run firms a decade from now.
THE REST
25 paid days off — and we mean take them
15 days of PTO plus 10 paid holidays. PTO that sits unused is a benefit on paper, not in life. We don't do that. You take your days. We cover for each other. That's the deal.
the horizon
$2,000 a year to go somewhere
A trip benefit, paid by the firm. We believe in life outside the spreadsheet — and we know good accountants come back sharper after a real break.
the schedule
Core hours, not surveillance hours
8 AM – 5 PM CST is the window your clients live in. Within that, you manage your day. We don't track keystrokes. We track whether the close gets shipped clean.
the seat
One of a few — not one of forty
You're not joining a pool of interchangeable resources. You're joining a small team where partners know your name and your work shows up in client-facing deliverables.
the trajectory
A real path beyond senior
Senior Accountant is the role we're filling today. We're a growing firm — the next layers of leadership are being built right now, and we'd rather promote than recruit.

ABOUT AGENCYFI
Relationship Focused. AI Empowered.
AgencyFi is a fractional CFO and accounting firm for US-based digital and creative agencies in the $1M to $10M revenue range. We handle their books, their financial operations, and their CFO work — the steady, behind-the-scenes finance function that lets agency owners stop worrying about the numbers and get back to running their business.
We're founder-led and team-oriented, which means our partners are still in the work and you'll know them by their first names within a week.
We're also building our own AI tooling to take the boring, repeatable parts of accounting off our team's plate. The goal isn't to replace accountants — it's to make sure ours are spending time on judgment work, not data entry. If that combination sounds like the kind of firm you want to grow with, we'd like to hear from you.
